Why adopt? A few thoughts on adoption

This is the question I hear over and over. Not that I mind. It's a good question. Why are we choosing to build our family by adoption? As I said before, it's something the Lord laid on our hearts to do even before we were married. We both wanted a large family (is 4 large? depends who you ask!) and see children as a great blessing from the Lord. Watching my parents adopt my two younger siblings also set a great example - one both Mike and I wanted to follow. Surly, it's not something every family needs to do, but for us we both felt it was something that God would have us do. And He has made that clear - through much prayer - He has provided the means for us to adopt, not once but twice. We think often of the clear example of adoption God has given us - adopting us into His family from slaves of sin to His sons and daughters through Christ His Son (Gal 4:4-7). "But you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father! The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." (Romans 8:15, 16). How blessed we are to be adopted by God! We are so blessed, so thankful to be part of God's heavenly family. We can only hope that we can follow such a great example by bringing a child or two into our earthly family. It is our prayer that these two beautiful girls from China will not only be a part of the Chau family, but also be adopted into God's heavenly family.

The kids have gotten so big. Thanks for being such a great testimony in regards to adoption. You are both a great example of "true and undefiled religion" by taking care of orphans. I should have started reading the blog from the first entry but I went from most recent down to this one. Great pictures, great stories, and I am so happy to hear how Karis has been improving day by day!
